Building a House to Last 400 Years (Fairbanks House, c1637)

Monday, February 37:00—8:30 PMSimoni RoomMorrill Memorial Library33 Walpole St., Norwood, MA, 02062

The Fairbanks House in Dedham MA, home to eight generations of the Fairbanks family, is the oldest wooden structure still standing in North America (c. 1637). How did it get to be so old? The short answer: hard work, dedication, and luck. Join Fairbanks House Curator Daniel Neff at the Morrill Memorial Library on Monday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m. as he discusses who built the house, and how and why they built it that way. He will also bring a model of the house and talk about how the house has been preserved over the centuries, its biggest threats, and the ongoing efforts to make sure it lasts another 400 years.
