Erica Ferencik is no stranger to fear. In order to research her novels The River at Night, Into the Jungle, and the upcoming thriller Girl In Ice, she ventured deep into the remote forests of the Allagash Territory in Northern Maine, rafted the Amazon River in the jungles of Peru, and traveled the desolate iceberg-packed fjords of Greenland.
Erica says:
"Today we are living in a strange and frightening new world which rivals - for some - the most terrifying of books. I am - like you I would imagine - reaching for stories both onscreen and on the page for solace. How are you coping with our new reality? What sorts of books bring you comfort now? What would you recommend to others to help them get through this difficult time? Join me in a lively and frank discussion about how to get through these crazy times, books in hand!"
Bio:
The New York Times Book Review called Into the Jungle, one woman's terrifying journey of survival in the Bolivian Amazon, one of the “Summer’s Best Thrillers.” Oprah chose Erica Ferencik’s debut, The River at Night as a #1 Pick, calling the book “the page-turning novel you’ve been waiting for, a heart-pounding debut,” while Entertainment Weekly named it a “Must Read.” Miramax has recently optioned it for film. Her work has appeared in Salon and The Boston Globe, as well as on National Public Radio.
