Musical Sundays Concert Series: Golden Lane

Sunday, April 283:00—4:00 PMSimoni RoomMorrill Memorial Library33 Walpole St., Norwood, MA, 02062

Irish traditional music will join the Musical Sundays Concert Series line up at the Morrill Memorial Library on Sunday, April 28 at 3:00 pm. As always, admission will be free for this family-friendly show!

The group consists of members of "Golden Lane", an Irish traditional group that has been performing in the Cape Cod/SE Mass. area for the past three years. Representing the group will be Pat Black, Dublin-born singer and performer on the tin whistle and bodhrán (Irish goatskin drum); Colin Everett, uilleann (pronounced ILL-en) piper and whistle player from Mattapoisett; and Bill Black, singer and string player (banjo/guitar/bouzouki) originally from New York.

In addition to traditional ballads (in English and Gaelic), the trio will perform some of the lively dance tunes (reels, jigs, polkas) that have made Irish traditional music so popular! Appearing with the group will be step-dancers from the Maureen Haley School of Dance. Maureen has been training dancers in the Boston area for many years, so the chances are good that you know at least one of her graduates!

"Audience participation is encouraged - tap your feet, clap hands, whistle along if you know the tune, ask questions - it's all good," said Bill Black. "Our main purpose in performing is to get folks to share our love for this wonderful art form. And there's no better time to do that than the feast day of Ireland's patron saint."

Registration is required and space is limited, so sign up soon! Reserve your seat(s) by filling out the form below, by calling the Reference Desk at 781-769-0200 x2, or by visiting the library. Funding for this concert is provided by the Library Endowment Fund.
