Musical Sundays Concert Series: Yiddishkeit Klezmer Ensemble

The Morrill Memorial Library's Spring Musical Sundays Concert Series will conclude on Sunday, May 12 at 2:00 pm with a performance by members of the Yiddishkeit Klezmer Ensemble. Note the early start time of this concert at 2:00 pm.

Since 1995, the Yiddishkeit Klezmer Ensemble has been performing traditional Klezmer music at weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, concerts, festivals, schools and other special events throughout New England and New York. The band performs original and traditional Klezmer music.

Brian Bender, who will perform on vocals, piano, trombone, and melodica, has performed Klezmer music at Carnegie Hall, the Presidential Inauguration of Bill Clinton and throughout the United States. He has also performed Klezmer music in Israel, Egypt, Italy, France, Germany, Holland, the UK, Russia and Austria. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music.

Janusz Kowalski, who will perform on clarinet and piano, joined the Yiddishkeit Klezmer Ensemble in April 2015. He has been playing Klezmer music in the New England area since 1988 with the Barry Shapiro Orchestra, Rhoda Bernard Trio, Misha Grandel Trio, Roman Primak Band and occasionally with Mashke. Janusz has also played with various Jewish/Israeli/Chassidic bands in the Greater Boston area, including the Iris & Ofer Portugaly Band, Israel Meir Orchestra, Etan Zinori and The Aviv Band. Janusz played keyboard for the interactive theater production of the "Fiddler On The Roof" in Brookline, Dedham, Boston and Newton MA.
