The Morrill Memorial Library welcomes Joe Delli Carpini, the Science and Operations Officer at the National Weather Service’s Boston office in Norton, for "Norwood's Summer Weather Outlook and the Atlantic Tropical Outlook," on Tuesday, May 21 at 7:00pm in the Simoni Room of the Library.

This presentation will begin with a look at what a "normal" summer in Norwood looks like, plus a brief recap of last summer's conditions. We will take a look at some of the global weather patterns that may affect the upcoming summer in Norwood and break down the official NOAA outlook for the upcoming summer. Will it be dry and hot, rainy and cold, or something in between? Many of these factors will also have an effect on the upcoming hurricane season in the Atlantic. We'll review the impact of El Niño and La Niña, sea surface temperatures, and other factors that may influence hurricane development. Finally, we will provide tips to help you prepare for this year's hurricane season and provide online references to help you track the latest storms.
