Shots in the Dark: Boston and the Mob in 1963

Wednesday, April 37:00—8:30 PMSimoni RoomMorrill Memorial Library33 Walpole St., Norwood, MA, 02062

Author and former Norwood resident, Daniel Zimmerman, did not set out to write a book about the redemption of Boston mobster, Rocco Balliro. In fact, Zimmerman planned to write the story of his family’s lore: that Balliro had murdered in cold blood Zimmerman’s aunt, Toby Wagner, and her son Marc, on a cold night in 1963. What Zimmerman found however, changed everything. Join the Morrill Memorial Library on Wednesday April 3 at 7:00 pm as Daniel recounts how he uncovered the real story of what happened in the shoot-out between Boston police and the mob on that night in 1963, and how he came to know the real Rocco Balliro. Copies of Zimmerman’s book, “Shots in the Dark: The Saga of Rocco Balliro,” will be available to purchase at the program. Daniel Zimmerman graduated from Norwood High School in 1978.
