The Climate Ribbon Project Begins!

To celebrate Earth Day 2024, the Morrill Memorial Library is excited to host our very first Climate Ribbon Project! We hope to get town-wide community participation in this month-long project, which will officially kick off at our annual Norwood 101 event on the evening of Monday, April 8.

About the CRP:  As we deal with climate change it is important to reflect on all that we have and what we may lose due to climate change. Will it be our lakes, beaches, green forests? Will it be our food production? Will our health worsen? There is a lot to think about. Started in 2014, the Climate Ribbon Project uses art and ritual to grieve what we each stand to lose to Climate Chaos, and affirms our solidarity as we unite to fight against it (Source: http://www.theclimateribbon.org/project#home).

How will it work here in Norwood? Following our launch on April 8, we will have a table on the first floor with all the materials needed to create your own ribbon to contribute to the project. Or, you’re welcome to bring your own ribbons from home. Writing materials will be provided. The question you have to ask yourself is,

“What do I love and hope to never lose to climate chaos?”

Write your answer on your ribbon and we will show off all the ribbons as part of an outdoor display in front of the library. The Climate Ribbon Project will be a visual symbol of our collaborative efforts to create an impact in the community, to bring awareness about climate change to the Norwood community and beyond. The project will conclude on April 30, 2024.
