Join us in the New Year after our holiday hiatus! Our book for January 2020 will be “The Terror” by Dan Simmons. This book, based on historical events, reads like a horror novel with elements of fantasy.

“The men on board the HMS Terror have every expectation of finding the Northwest Passage. But what they don't expect is a monstrous predator lurking behind the Arctic ice. When the expedition's leader, Sir John Franklin, meets a horrifying end, Captain Francis Crozier takes command, leading his surviving crewmen on a last desperate attempt to flee south across the ice.

But another winter is rapidly approaching, and with it, scurvy and starvation. Crozier and his men may find that there is no escaping the terror stalking them southward. And with the crushing cold and the fear of almost certain death at their backs, the most horrifying monster among them may be each other.”

Copies of the book and book-on-CD are available at the Reference Desk, and both the ebook and audiobook are available digitally through Overdrive. Pick up a copy, read it, and join us on 1/28 @ 7:30 pm!

Titles on Tap is a social book group for readers in their 20s and 30s and for the young at heart. We go in for stories that are shaken, not stirred, and we don’t mind taking our love of lit outside the library walls. Titles on Tap meets once a month in the left-hand bar of Napper Tandy’s to eat, drink, be merry, and discuss the latest reading selection. Visit our website and follow us @titlesontap to learn more.
