Morrill Memorial Library is partnering with The Second Step to bring an information session on domestic violence to the library on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at 6:30PM in the Simoni Room. The program is called Understanding domestic violence: what is it and how does it impact me?
Come join The Second Step for an informational presentation to learn more about domestic violence and how it might show up in your life. Domestic violence is an epidemic that isn’t often discussed, yet it is present in all communities. You can expect to leave understanding what domestic violence is, how it shows up in our community, what local resources are available, and more. This presentation is not just for survivors or loved ones, all are encouraged to attend!
About the presenter: Gabriela Wells (she/her), LICSW, is the Director of the Prevention Intervention and Education program at The Second Step. Gabriela has been working in the domestic violence field for over 6 years in several diverse settings. She works continuously to support survivors in their journey to safety, decrease stigma within systems and create accessible and widespread education around domestic violence.
About The Second Step: The Second Step is a nonprofit domestic violence organization in Newton that serves survivors across the state of Massachusetts. TSS provides many services for survivors, including safety planning, legal support, court accompaniment, housing support, advocacy, referrals to outside resources, and support groups. In addition to our survivor-services, TSS offers community education programs, including trainings for businesses, schools, and nonprofits about domestic violence.
