The Morrill Memorial Library is partnering with the Ashland Library and other Massachusetts libraries to bring an afternoon virtual program to our communities on Thursday, September 22 at 1:00pm via Zoom.

David Kruh, author of "Building Route 128", will present the complete story of Route 128, from its beginning in the 1920s as an ad hoc collection of two-lane roads that formed a rough arc 15 miles from Boston, through the construction of the divided highway in the 1950s, and then how one man’s vision became the catalyst for the fantastic growth around the highway.

About the Author: David Kruh is a former New Yorker and a 1978 graduate of the University of Maryland.  While earning his Masters in Computer Engineering at Boston University, David worked as an engineer at WRKO Radio. He has also worked full time as a copywriter, computer programmer, radio producer, radio engineer and, for a few years in the mid-1990s, as a spokesman and web master for the Big Dig.  He retired a few years ago from a semiconductor manufacturer, where he was the Direct Marketing Manager.  He is also the author of several other books, notably two on Boston's Scollay Square and Building Route 128.

David's most recent book, Inseparable, is based on the June, 1962 escape by three inmates from Alcatraz in a homemade raft. Two of the escapees land on a beach near Sausalito. They are found by an independent-minded thirteen year-old boy who decides to help them to freedom. In this fast-paced adventure, they must evade the authorities, the media - and the boy’s mother.
