Musical Sundays Concert Series: Aurora Duo

Start your Spring on a high note with the Morrill Memorial Library's Spring Musical Sunday's Concert Series. All concerts in this series will start at 3:00 pm and are funded by the Library Endowment Fund.

The final concert in our Spring series will be a special Mother's Day concert by classical group, Aurora Duo. Since 1987, Loren Pearson and her husband, pianist Kevin McGinty, have been active performers as the Aurora Duo and have participated in WGBH Recording Sessions. Former faculty positions include Milton Academy, Cape Cod Conservatory, and the New School of Music in Cambridge.

Loren Pearson, violinist/violist, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Smith College and her Master’s Degree from SUNY at Buffalo. She has performed chamber, symphonic, and operatic music in Europe for 10 years, including tours in Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. She has performed regularly with local orchestras such as the Boston Opera, Worcester Symphony, Masterworks Chorale, Rhode Island Philharmonic and Hartford Symphony.She is currently a faculty member at the Milton Public Schools Music Program and Ipswich High School Music Program. She also runs her own Newton private violin/viola studio. She teaches Suzuki and traditional violin, folk, and fiddle, with regular large group performances.

Kevin McGinty, pianist, received his bachelor's degree from New England Conservatory and a master's degree from The Julliard School of Music. Mr. McGinty is an active performer in the Boston area. Solo performances include the Boston Pops and the Arlington Philharmonic. He performed Gershwin “Rhapsody in Blue” at Mechanics Hall in Worcester with the Central Massachusetts Symphony and has participated in live radio broadcasts on stations WCUW, WICN, WERS, and WBGH. Mr. McGinty has taught for years at the Music and Theater Arts Program at MIT. As a long-standing and highly revered piano faculty member at All Newton Music School he maintains a very large student following.
