Musical Sundays Concert Series: Shirim Klezmer

Sunday, April 303:00—4:00 PMSimoni RoomMorrill Memorial Library33 Walpole St., Norwood, MA, 02062

Start your Spring on a high note with the Morrill Memorial Library's Spring Musical Sunday's Concert Series. All concerts in this series will start at 3:00 pm and are funded by the Library Endowment Fund.

The third concert in our line-up will be Shirim Klezmer band. Klezmer is the rollicking party music and soulful laments imbued with Mid Eastern flavors that was brought to America in the early 20th century by Jewish musicians from Eastern Europe.  This music has that unique sound of crying and laughing at the same time.

Shirim has been playing this music for decades at festivals and concert halls across North America and Europe.  They have collaborated with Maurice Sendak (Pincus and the Pig), performed with the Philly Pops, and appeared on a Woody Allen soundtrack (Deconstructing Harry).  Featured for this performance is a trio from the band: Glenn Dickson, clarinet; Mark Hamilton, trombone and David Sparr piano.

Registration is required. To sign up, please fill out the form below or call the Reference Desk at 781-769-0200 x2.

Other concerts in our Musical Sundays Spring Concert Series will include:

4/2:  Jeff Snow: The Softer Side of Celtic

4/16:  Trio Spirito

5/14:  Aurora Duo
